'Excellent Platform for Undertaking Consumer Surveys''I used Touch Screen Market Research to collect data for my Masters Thesis. The thesis surveyed consumers in supermarkets to test their willingness to pay for different attributes of lamb using a choice modeling. The thesis has been recently submitted and was awarded an ‘A’ grade.
The touch screen technology proved to be an excellent platform for undertaking consumer surveys in supermarkets. Supermarket customers have a very wide demographic profile which could potentially cause issues for data collection but the touch screens proved to be easy and intuitive for the great majority people surveyed. Many customers also commented that the touch screen definitely helped engage them in the survey and they enjoyed filling it out. Having access to the three different types of touch screen units was great and made data collection easier as different locations suited different types of units better. Another key benefit is that you can track the number of completed surveys as you go meaning there is no guess work about how many samples you have and how many more you need to get the required sample size.
A very nice feature of this technology is that all the data comes to you in an Excel spreadsheet which saves a huge amount of time as you do not need to key in all the raw data. The cost of collecting data by this method was also quite reasonable when compared to other data collection methods especially when considering how accurate this method is and how much time it saves. Rachel Wells was great to deal with and had very quick turn-around times when setting up or making changes to the survey.
Overall the use of the touch screens for my data collection was a great success and I would highly recommend other researchers consider this option for their data collection.

'Everything was just done so well from start to end'“The Business Opportunities and Franchise Expo Series have been running in Christchurch, Auckland and Wellington for 15 years.
For the first time in 2007 we used touch screens for our registrations from Touchscreen Marketing & Research (these are either portable or stand alone touch screens like a PC monitor).

'70% - 75% Response Rate'In Arbuckles retail stores in Christchurch, 70-75% of customers who came into the stores completed the surveys. Survey participation was enhanced by the offer of entering a draw for a $100 voucher.
This high response rate compares to traditional paper-based methods where 15-18% is considered a relatively good response rate.
This confirms that New Zealanders like to share their opinions and satisfaction levels - they just need an easy and unobtrusive method, such as touchscreen surveys, to do it.

'Difficult Base to Gather Meaningful Survey Sample'Canterbury Employers’ Chamber of Commerce have used Digivey surveys and small business quizzes to gather feedback at networking meetings and trade shows.
‘Traditionally, and increasingly so, our members have been a difficult base to gather a meaningful survey sample from due to the amount of information a business receives each day by other survey means e.g. email or post.
We trialled the Touchscreen system and were impressed when, without an incentive, 75% of the attendees at the network meeting completed the touch screen survey using a mix of kiosks and desktop PCs. The respondents found the one minute survey easy to complete.

Waihi Top 10 Holiday Park - Winner of TSMR's competition sent the following letter to the editor of Tourism Business Magazine.
I am writing to express my thanks to Tourism Business and Touchscreen Marketing & Research for the opportunity to use their survey and feedback system in our park recently. Rachel Wells of Touchscreen Marketing & Research worked with us to develop a series of questions and put them in such a way that even younger people were able to easily understand and answer. The ease of set up and use was excellent and I want to take this opportunity to recommend it to others as an easy way to gain unbiased guest feedback on one’s own business.
The ‘box’, which incorporated the touchscreen computer and survey, was a 5 minute set up job and the same to repack to return to Touchscreen Marketing & Research.
What we hadn’t realised or expected was the quality of the reports from the survey data. These were not only expressed as a spreadsheet but also given as a PowerPoint Presentation making is very easy to share with staff and interested parties. We received an email with all the data as well as a professionally presented hard copy.
